Paul’s Travel Story

Paris travel stories include the condition of the bed, the transportation system, renting instead of lugging, etc. Imagine trying to find a hoist, a special mattress or an electric scooter. Travelers with various degrees of handicap from muscular sclerosis to total or partial paralysis.

This is a synopsis of Paul’s travel story based on his words.

His visit to  Disneyland Paris was scheduled for a weekend in March. Paralysed from the shoulders down and in a wheelchair he needed to hire a hoist to aid his wife getting him in and out of bed. He also need a pressure relieving mattress.

Paul asked for help to point him in the right direction; he was having difficulty finding help.

Medimad was able to loan (rent) him a hoist and mattress, delivered it to Disneyland and picked it back up.

“… Everything went well, the Eurostar is amazing and I plan to visit Paris next. Medimad were brilliant, they phoned me up when they were at the hotel (waited for me as i was in the park). They arranged the room so the hoist was easily propelled around and set my air mattress up; excellent service all around.  We stopped at Newport bay hotel which was fine but having to catch a bus everyday was a little worrying so I had to get special transport (wheelchair van) which sometimes took forty-five minutes to arrive. I will stay at the Disney hotel next time. Which hotel can you recommend in Paris, I like nice food so I will try this journey once! Thanks Paul”

A hotel in the Marais, Hotel Caron,  is completely set up for wheelchairs, even in the shower.
