Imagine the hard wood decorations from the Art Nouveau
era in a brasserie from the 1900s, backlit stained glass, linen
tablecloths and napkins, attentive waiters and good food...
Two brasserie groups, FLO Brasseries and Les Frères
Blanc, have such décor and offer on line specials for dinner or a dinner/show combination.
At the FLO Brasserie group you can enjoy this atmosphere
for 20% less than the published prices by ordering on line when you visit the
discount ticket website
TickeTac.
Scroll down the page. Choose which of the menus you would like (but not the
individual items), and make your reservation and receive a confirmation.
(FLO has discontinued their internal online reduction.)
A nice experience
If you have not been to one of the brasseries from the
1900s, 1920s and 1930s, you are in for a nice and elegant surprise. And
receiving a discount is a nice surprise as well.
Bofinger, part of FLO, is close to my apartment in the Bastille and
anytime that we have gone, it is always a thrill to sit under the
stained glass, back-lit cupola, amid mirrors reflecting the light
and activity.
One day, however, we decided to make a reservation at
another old-fashioned styled brasserie, Julien in the 10th
arrondissement.
To find their phone number, I went on line and found that
we could save by making an on-line reservation if we planned to
order à la carte and not a set menu (prix fixe).
Information on FLO's websites
Click on FLOshow and follow the link to TickeTac again and click on Brasseries.
You can even fill out a form in order to receive
information about
promotions at FLO Brasseries.
Click on the individual brasserie and choose a menu (not specific items)
and pay ahead of time.
Each menu is spelled out for you further down on the page so you will
know what to expect to choose from.
Menu example:
Menu Brasserie 2 courses : 20,90 euros instead of 23,50
euros
Includes: appetizer and main course or main course and dessert
Menu Brasserie 3 courses : 26,80 euros instead of 30,50 euros
Includes appetizer, main course and dessert
Menu Gourmet 3 courses : 48,90 euros instead of 54 euros
Includes appetizer, main course and dessert, aperitif of a Kir blanc,
37,5 cl of wine or 25 cl beer on tap and 50 cl of water and coffee.
You can see the menu choices on line, but do not have to
choose the specific items.
FLO group
The Paris brasseries in the FLO group that participate in
this discount are: Bofinger,
Brasserie Flo,
Julien,
La Coupole,
Le Boeuf sur le Toit, and Le Vaudeville.
Just as an FYI, the other brasseries in this group are
Brasserie du Théâtre, Terminus Nord, and Brasserie Balzar.
Even if you can no longer order on the
FLO website,
their English website is fun to go through.
I always am interested in the story behind these
edifices. Aren't you? When you click on the individual brasserie links,
you will find the story behind the story.
For example, if you want to know more about
Le Boeuf sur la Toit,
click on "panoramic view" to see the interior; the "in the spotlight"
section tells you about its history and interior; the "menu" lists their
specialties, "behind the scenes" introduces you to the chef, "practical
information" provides address details, hours and a map.
The hours are provided on the page "Les Brasseries".
Click on your brasserie of choice.
Les Frères Blanc
Another brasserie group is
Les Frères Blanc
. Their general website is in English. At Les Frères Blanc brasseries,
dinner and a show prices start at 60 euros.
Although they do not offer a menu discount, it might be
interesting to check out their individual brasseries for menu offerings
for a comparison.
For example, at
La Taverne (I
recommend this one) you can receive a three-course menu with a
beverage (beer, wine or water) for 28 euros or a two-course with
beverage for 24 euros. You can either reserve on line or call ahead for
reservations for the same prices.
You might want to consult with your concierge due to the technicalities of reserving your
discounted dinner/show menu in French.
What is included
The "Soirées
Privilège" includes a "Spectacle + Restaurant" starting at 60 euros
up to 300 euros.
The price includes the show, dinner and drinks.
These shows can be at the operas, the theatres in Paris,
or variety shows such as the Lido.
Once you click on "Les Théâtre" and choose your venue,
you will be taken to a page with the dates of availability, prices and
closest brasserie to the show. The hours given are in 24-hour time.
In order to find the lower price, fill in the blanks on
their
reservation page with type of show, price range and date that you
would like to attend.
The Frères Blanc
discovery page
lists their brasseries and links to the menu specials.
A
page with a map
shows where their brasseries are located.
Recipe
Here is something fun; a recipe.
Go to
Les Frères Blanc's main page.
When you click on each of the brasseries, you receive
small details about the restaurant and its history, BUT, click on
"Chef's Special" and a recipe pops up.
The brasseries in "Les Frères Blanc" group include: Au
Pied de Cochon, Le Grand CaféL’Alsace, Charlot, Le Procope, La Fermette
Marbeuf, La Taverne, L’Arbuci, La Lorraine, Le Petit Zinc, Chez Jenny,
L’appart, La Marée, Le Sud, Le Flora Danica & Le Copenhague. |
