I have a question...

Use the internet for your Paris visit

Free WiFi in 2007

WiFi spots are available between  7 a.m. and 11 p.m. and when parks are normally open to the public (depending on the sunset).

The parks and gardens with access will have a notice posted at the entry/exit. A connect number will also be posted at the gates or on benches. The current list is available on the mayor's website.

The city of Paris will have at least 200 free WiFi points as of June 2007 in the city halls of each arrondissement, municipal libraries and public gardens in the capital.

Access to these hotspots is free during the regular opening times of these buildings and parks.

An additional 200 hotspots are to be added by August 2007 at a cost of between 5 and 6 million dollars this first year of access and includes the installation and access to service to be paid to SFR-Alcatel by the city of Paris.

The antennae are installed in the lampposts.

After a trip to San Francisco in 2006, the mayor, Bertrand Delanoë, would like to bring the digital age to all Parisians.

Each of the local city halls, libraries, employment offices, Paris parks and gardens will be connected by June 2007.

In order not be viewed as a "telecom", the city of Paris is limited the number of access points.

WiFi available at McDonald's

The McDonalds are trying to blend in with the neighborhoods but you can still spot them by the golden arches. When you do, check their front windows. They may offer free WiFi. I have seen the decal on some but not all.

WiFi (in French say weefee) at the town hall

For those staying in the third arrondissement neighborhood, you can access the free WiFi connection at the mayor's office at 2 Rue Eugène Spuller 75003. Visit the reception desk (accueil) and inquire about the codes to access the free WiFi connection. For more WiFi info to come read the press release on the Quiconnect website.

Cybercafés-Internet cafés

The Paris tourist office offers a list of cybercafés to visit on their website. You may find others around Paris not on the list. The "A" next to the name on the list means that they belong to the Paris Chamber of Commerce.

Visit famous Paris sites with an audio download in English.

The Paris tourist office now makes it convenient to tour Paris's monuments get the facts. The Notre-Dame tour is nine minutes and 52 seconds.

The other tours available are Saint Germain des Prés, Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, le Louvre, Sacré Coeur and Beaubourg. Not just facts imagined interviews take place with "personages" of the period.

Virtually visit the Hôtel de Ville

Walking by the Hôtel de Ville on your visits to Paris, you look up into the windows and see chandeliers. Visit it virtually . The audio and visual tour is written in English and spoken in French. It provides the history of the city and its architecture, its halls, staircase; a fabulous presentation. Enjoy!
