Métro platform doors on Line 1

Between April 12 to June 15, 2010 and the hours 10 p.m. and approximately 5:30 a.m., service will be interrupted on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday between Châtelet and Nation.  Service will be normal on Friday and Saturday nights.

Use connections on other lines for Châtelet, Hôtel de Ville, Saint Paul, Bastille, Gare de Lyon, Reuilly-Diderot, and Nation.

The Bastille Line 1 station will be closed completely June 11-13.

RATP is installing automatic doors on the platforms. The line will be completely automatic, including no driver, by 2012. Take a ride on Line 14 as an example. Plans call for the entire Paris Métro system to be modernized by 2020.

Line 1 was the first Métro line to open to the public. Since July 19, 1900 the trains go back and forth between La Défense and La Château de Vincennes about 213 million times a year.
