RER C Renovating – Reroute Your Journey

Between Gare d’Austerlitz and Javel, RER C resumes normal activity August 27. You will only see a diagram of the stations affected at the bottom of the stairs to the platform. Plan on buses or other metro lines to circumvent this summer riddle. Posters are plastered all over the metros and RER about RER A with only a mention that something is going on with RER C. Even at Gare d’Austerlitz the information is limited. With digging, I was able to find maintenance information about the other RER works scheduled. Use Google Translate to read the page. I was heading to the Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel) area, for example. I…

Happy New Year 2015 from Paris!

The Paris Mayor’s Office brought in the new year with a spectacular display of “video-morphing” on the Arc-de-Triomphe. The spectacle lasted 20 minutes and ended with fireworks from the top. Wherever you were on December 31 (I was almost a month in northwest and central India), you can relive a slice of the moment virtually on their Daily Motion (French YouTube) channel.

Nicolas approached me in…

About Colleen’s Paris And How It All Started

Colleen’s Paris provides personal tips for Parisians at heart. Finding ways to share Paris with anyone who is coming to Paris or already visited Paris is what I like to do. I feel very lucky to be here; it took a long time. Due to my circumstances of opportunity (i.e. work, travel, life happenings) sharing my good fortune evolved into Colleen’s Paris. My mother, Marge, remembers that we were in the Louvre in the 1970s when I made a statement that I would return to Paris. My paternal grandmother, Norma, always hoped that I would speak French (and play the harp). My cousin, Cindy, wrote a letter from Paris when…
