    Bell Rings Tonight at Notre-Dame

    At 8 pm Paris time, tonight, April 15, the south tower bell, “Emmanuel”, will ring at Notre-Dame de Paris. It is one year since the fire April 15, 2019. General Jean-Louis Georgelin, in charge of the cathedral’s restoration, decided on this time, which coincides with the evening applause for health care workers during the Covid-19.

    Romantic Paris (1815-1848) The Lull Between Upheavals

    Was there a single event that led to Romanticism? Where did it begin? You could say the era Enlightenment and war brought on Romanticism. It started in Germany. The Petit Palais's latest exhibition, Paris Romantique (1815-1848) until September 15, is one of a two-part exhibition. The second part takes place at the Musée de la Vie Romantique. Initially, I went to the exhibition out of curiosity; drawn to this period of emotional art. I found Romantic stylings of the Gothic, Middle Ages and Renaissance decor, women artists, writers, composers, sculptors, elements of the medieval and the erotic, theatre and fashion.     Iconic Paris Walk Along the Seine

    Sometimes views only change with the seasons. I had to wonder how many times these same scenes have been photographed over the years. The scenes are iconic and never seem to be boring. We went for a walk along the Seine yesterday between Gare d'Austerlitz and Cathrédale Notre-Dame de Paris. We enjoyed a salad for dinner on the Ile-Saint-Louis with the sun setting. People were lined up at the Batobus* stop for Notre-Dame. Were they all in line for the sunset cruise? Not all could be accommodated, and they waited for the next one.
