A busy place to be on New Year’s Day 2022 was at Place des Vosges (Louis XIII-Place Royale). It was a day of moderate temperatures for couples and families. Going out for a hot chocolate (chocolat chaud) was the goal.

Art galleries surround Place des Vosges. I enjoyed an art gallery set up on the park grounds the other day. On my way to Monoprix Saint Paul, the colorful stakes with art in their wood rectangles contrasted with the grey sky.... Reading further about the beaux-arts ateliers on line, they are not all leisurely art classes. Les Ateliers Beaux-Arts offers preparatory classes for students preparing for higher studies in career arts....

Paris Parks begin Winter Hours
Walking through Square Louis XIII (also known as Place des Vosges), my short cut route was cut short. The route became the long way around! The corner where I usually exit was already locked! And then I heard a hint of why."Le square ferme. Mesdames, Messieurs et Mesdemoiselles*, le square ferme," he called out. To my surprise the 7:30 pm closing time was no longer; it was now 5:45 pm! A Paris Friday Night in May
On the streets of Paris, you can have a plan but always be ready for the unplanned. On this Friday night, a statue lighting event led to crossing paths with feet moving faster than mine and the search for perfection with small, tedious retakes on a movie set. I wanted to go out Friday to see a lighting ceremony and fire works on the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris. It was a lighting ceremony of Henri IV’s statue. The king was a major source of new building and architectural style in the 1500s (think Place des Vosges where he built a his and hers palace).
